I invite you to step into a world of timeless elegance and enchantment as we delve into all of the exquisite details of Erik & Justin’s black tie October wedding. In the crisp air of autumn and the historic backdrop of beautiful Old City Philadelphia, their love took center stage, adorned in sophistication and style.
I had the distinct pleasure in working with these two amazing grooms on not only their invitation suite, but also their wedding day-of paper. Their vision was specific and meticulously opulent. A dream of a challenge for a lover of all-things-elegant for a stationer like myself.
Although their wedding date fell on Halloween Weekend, they were specific in their request to include no pumpkins, no spiders, no ghosts, none of the traditional imagery you would typically associate with the spooky season.
For their invitation suite, they requested black & white with a touch of botanical greenery. They wanted to incorporate traditional elements like a wax seal, but with modern touches, like white-ink printed envelopes. I loved their vision and was eager to bring it to life.
A modern script font adequately conveys the formality of the affair, paired with a clean & classic serif for the body of text gave the suite the proper black tie feeling. Wanting to up the level of sophistication, we opted for a black details card printed with white ink. For the response card, RSVPs were collected via the grooms’ wedding website, but we felt it important to include a physical card as a reminder for guests to complete their responses.
Their request to include some greenery and botanicals within their suite was an exciting challenge. I loved this vintage-feeling botanical pattern for their envelope liners and the inclusion of olive-branch-like stems on their wedding crest.
As I wrap-up what could be a very long and enthusiastic post about Erik & Justin’s wedding invitation suite, I invite you to continue reading about their wedding day paper that we designed to add even more grace and grandeur to their perfect day.
Cheers to love, style, and the promises made (& kept) to their guests to deliver an unforgettable October soirée
